71% of Canadians Oppose This Tax. Ottawa Is Bringing It Back Anyway

Franco Terrazzano, Federal Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, discusses the federal gas tax scheduled to return September 8 and new polling showing 71% of decided Canadians oppose the increase. From the hundreds of dollars families could pay each year at the pump to the ripple effect of higher diesel costs on groceries and everyday goods, Franco explains why the impact goes far beyond filling your tank. He also takes aim at Ottawa’s growing bureaucracy, years of MP pay raises, hundreds of millions in government bonuses, Canada Post paying nearly $31 million in bonuses after receiving a $1 billion bailout, and a federal government he says continues to borrow tens of billions while Canadians struggle with the cost of living.
